Spring
2010 Meeting and Show at the
Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum
Canyon, Texas
b
23 - 25 April 2010
Although
a much smaller show than is usual, those that did attend either as an
exhibitor or visitor, enjoyed another great TGCA event. Several
local collectors and gun enthusiasts made a point of thanking TGCA for
bringing a different kind of gun show to the Panhandle - specifically to
Canyon - and expressed their appreciation to all those involved.
"When will you be coming back?" was a frequent question; on that (for the
present) we cannot answer.
The museum management and staff made us very welcome and went out of their
way to accommodate our needs as best they could. The auction and the
steak dinner that followed, and the Annual Membership Business Meeting
were held in the quaint Pioneer Town exhibit, which greatly enhanced the
air of fun and comradeship to the event, a keynote feature of all TGCA
shows.
The auction did remarkably well with twenty-two varied lots coming under
the hammer. In the absence of John Gangel, Buck Westbrook was able
to wheedle, plead, beg and threaten sufficient bids from the large
audience to ensure another financially successful affair for the club.
Two new Directors were
elected. Dr. Nick Shannon of San Antonio and Donald Roberts
of Pasadena, Texas have now taken the places of Lynn Chenault of Houston
and Bill Conley of Beaumont, both of whom decided against running again
this time.
The pictures shown on the following pages were taken by Andrea Porter,
PPHM Communications Coordinator, who has graciously given consent for us
to publish here, and later in the Fall 2010 edition of The Texas Gun
Collector.
