TEXAS GUN COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION
About Us

T.G.C.A. is not an appraisal service or authentication agency.
Whereas some of our members as individuals might be able to answer questions about old firearms
recently come to light, the Association cannot directly give estimates of value nor give opinions
as to the authenticity of such weapons. Members are always approachable at our shows
We recommend that anyone with such a question visit a local gun shop, or direct their question to
a suitable on-line forum where much valuable information may be found.

Article II from the Constitution and By-Laws of the Texas Gun Collectors Association

"To establish in Texas a permanent organization for the promotion of friendship among and the   mutual benefit of persons interested in the collection, preservation and use of all types of arms and their accessories; to arrange and hold meetings for the display and exchange of arms and useful information for the membership; to publicize and oppose unfair arms legislation; and to uphold and promote the highest ethical standards in all activities pertaining to the Association.  Above all, the Texas Gun Collectors Association supports the second amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America."

Since February 1950 the Texas Gun Collectors Association (TGCA), an NRA affiliated organization, has been meeting regularly in hotels and meeting halls in various major cities throughout the state, combining association business with fellowship and a free exchange of interests in the world of antique and classic arms collecting.

Considered to be one of the country's leading arms collecting organizations, T.G.C.A. is again meeting twice a year, in Spring and Fall, for three days.   The mainstay of these meetings has always been a weekend show of antique, classic and collectible arms, accoutrements, and accessories, etc., western and Civil War period memorabilia,  gambling and saloon paraphernalia, and related ephemera.  Today, the show also allows collectible and historic weapons from the early twentieth century.  The show is open to members and guests, and, for a small entry fee,  the general public.

In accordance with the wishes of a large number of our members, recent shows and those scheduled for the near future alternate between Fort Worth and San Antonio, Texas (see Show Dates page).  Other meetings from the recent past have been held in Houston, Mesquite and Dallas.

Following an experimental period when TGCA meetings transitioned into a once a year, four day event, we have reverted to the time honored format of two three-day shows each year.  The shows feature a Reception on Friday evening where table holders and TGCA members and their guests can relax and meet in fellowship, and an excellent auction held on Saturday evening.  This latter event has always provided a lot of fun and is, perhaps, the highlight of the show - very often throwing out a real bargain or two.  Added features are a ladies' program, members' displays, educational seminars, and some  superb displays.

As an indication of the association's reputation throughout the gun collecting community, TGCA members are drawn from throughout the United States and overseas, as well as from Texas.

The Texas Gun Collector , a high quality magazine style newsletter, is published twice a year (in the Spring and the Fall) to keep the membership informed of association activities, to disseminate news, and to present articles and reports of common interest to those engaged in the collecting of antique arms.  Copies of past issues may be obtained from the Secretary for a small charge plus postage.
